Hikkaduwa is a small town and primarily a tourist destination.
It offers a great beach with options to swim, surf, snorkel and enjoy the sun.
The before so impressive Hikkaduwa coral reef has sadly suffered high degradation
due to both natural and human activities.
Glass Bottom boats damage the coral reef, so try snorkelling instead.
There are still plenty of coral fish and even some huge turtles to be seen.
The heavily trafficed main road runs through the town close to the beach. Be careful, when strolling there!
There are many shops, restaurants, hotels and even affordable guesthouses to choose from.
The distance to Hikkaduwa from Colombo is about 115 km.
Moonstone, Masks and Batik factories are found in the area.
BENTOTA
on longitude 80 you find Bentota where you can relax on the beach and watch the turtlefarm.
